Thabo Godfrey Mokgosi, North-West University (Mafikeng Campus) graduate. He holds a Master of Arts, Bachelor of Arts (Hons) and  Bachelor of Arts in Communication Degrees. He has worked as a student assistance in the Department of Public Relations (North-West University: Mafikeng Campus) from 2006-2007 and as a lecturer in Public Relations and Management Communication from 2007-2010 at Taletso Further Education and Training  College before joining the University of Zululand, Department of Communication Science (Richards Bay Campus). He has a keen interest in the field of Journalism and Media Studies and looking forward to equip students with excellent and  critical skills in the field of mass communication. He has conducted academic research in the field of communication specialising in Public Service Broadcasting in community development and HIV/AIDS reporting looking at Motsweding FM as a case study. He researched public service broadcasting in terms of the concept of ‘total citizen empowerment’ taking in to consideration appalling situation most South Africans find themselves in pertaining to the provision of information as a right rather than as a privilege. Broadcasting institutions have a tremendous role in transforming the citizens of this country by providing them with pertinent and accurate information in an attempt to overpass an existing gulf of information rich and information poor society, to facilitate informed decision making among citizens. Lets work together to make University of Zululand a world-class university.
